What a fantastic 50 minutes of question and extraordinary clarity of answer this interview with Jared Yates Sexton. I am buying his book - and I will share this video around the world. I was just at a memorial ceremony for a younger friend who passed away in September last year. It was held in a remote hamlet called Hockey's Creek - the cemetery itself in an enclosed wooded grove - 20 people by invitation from his widow- as a lad so badly sexually abused within the NSW juvenile "in-justice" system that I can't write it - but a strength within made him an advocate and a seeker after justice for the many of his fellow prisoners (to age 18) who never made it far into adult years - being a major witness himself at the Royal Commission into Childhood Institutional Abuse (Sexual and Physical) held here in Australia in the latter 2010s. I delivered the eulogy and later back at a local hotel in the locale had conversations with a number of others attending including a young (50s) fellow from Queensland who had been through terrible times himself - speaking unselfconsciously (because he was with "friends" about some of the traumatic effects on his own life - his parenting - being leapt upon by his own little lads in play but reacting in startled response ways that clearly drew on his efforts at deeply-controlling but terrible experiences. As you spoke with Jared I could see even more clearly my own experiences - as you put it more-or-less - from another angle. Thank-you so much Matthew - for all that you do...
